Story of our Company

STS WORLDWIDE is the brain child of (late) Mrs. Geetha Narasimham. The company was incorporated in Atlanta during the 1982 summer with the founder's vision to create an IT company that will cater to IT professionals coming from India and become their platform for stability and success in USA. The company was born from the community services that Geetha spearheaded by hosting dinners every weekend to all the IT consultants that were posted to Atlanta from India and were totally lost for lack of local support. Soon Geetha and her husband Pundi became the host family to all the IT consultants posted at Atlanta and the word spread and more IT consultants came and joined STS thereby propelling its growth to become one of the largest H1-B employers in the nation by 1995.

Founder Geetha took the trouble to go personally pick up consultants from their residence (as they were new to Atlanta and without transportation), bring them to her home, host Indian movies for them, play cards, table tennis and also pack Indian food before the work week started. Very soon Geetha's name became popular among the recently emigrated IT professionals from India and these consultants in turn encouraged her to start her own IT consulting firm and that marked the beginning of Software Technical Services Inc., in Atlanta Georgia in September 1982.

Upon return from India on a vacation trip in 1982, the Narasimham's family blew all their savings and Pundi's pay check was hardly enough to pay the bills. Lo and behold AT&T was being split into Baby bells and Pundi lost his job during the split. He came home, cried to Geetha, totally depressed, not knowing how to the pay the bills as he was the only wage earner in the family. Geetha then assured to her husband that this [layoff] will never happen again and she made an unconditional commitment to her husband to start a family business and make it profitable so that never in future the family would run into a problem like the case when AT&T laid off her husband. Geetha's determination not only made her husband and family self-sufficient but also created a platform in America that became the home away from home to thousands of IT professionals that have arrived into STS USA from around the world.

STS originally started from the basement of Geetha's residence (June 1983) with the home phone acting as the office phone during the day time. An old telex machine was used to communicate with India. Geetha used to babysit both Roopa (3 years old) and Deepak (1 year old) all by herself daily and still be able to make calls to customers and convince customers about how IT professionals from India can develop software programs for customers in USA. Point to note here is that we were one of the first IT staffing firms in the USA. Back then, that was pioneering the model of bringing IT professionals from India to develop software for customers in the U.S.

With the humble beginnings from 1983 July from her basement at home, STS grew into a multimillion-dollar global company by 1995, before Geetha's unexpected demise from brain cancer in January 1996 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

The first time Geetha's husband realized how popular she was among the IT community in the United States was during her body's cremation in a local crematorium in Atlanta based on Hindu rituals, the number of wreaths that arrived at the crematorium even overflowed into the parking lot of the crematorium. People from around the world near and dear have paid their final respects to Geetha, sadly the same year economic times of India has recognized her as one of the two women CEO's of India origin in the USA right after her death. During her tenure as founder of the company, she was popularly called as "Mom" for the entire company as she took personal interest in the well-being of every employee of STS.

The US Chamber of Commerce, Washington, DC, has awarded Geetha the Blue Chip Enterprise initiative award for corporate excellence in managing a global IT company and delivering her success story to the audience, she made a statement "Thing big and never give up" which to date has become the slogan for the thousands and thousands of successful STS consultants that are holding leading top level positions in corporate America. She was a visionary beyond her times and left a lasting legacy of creating a platform for immigrants to come to the United States and become successful. Her only son, Deepak Narasimham, has taken over the torch and will be leading STS Worldwide in the footsteps of his mother and promoting her vision for decades to come. Think big and never give up.
