Geetha (Rita) Narasimham
The (Late) Mrs. Geetha Narasimham's (Rita) family hails from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. She was born in Ankara, Turkey and raised at Coimbatore, India. She emigrated to the United States back in 1969 as a middle school student and completed her high school at Ardsley, Westchester County NY. , While studying at State University of New York at Albany, New York, (1975) she was introduced to Mr. PundiNarasimham, a Ph.D. student of Materials Sciences at Washington State University by her aunt, Indira, who is currently residing in Rochester, MN and is 89
years old. This strictly phone only relationship later on bloomed into Pundi proposing to Geetha to marry her in the summer of 1977. Finally upon graduation, they got married at a local church in Ardsley, NY in the summer of 1977 (of importance to note here is that they had met face-to-face for the first time the day before marriage).
She holds a BS in Applied Sciences from the State University of New York, Albany, NY and an associate degree in Computer Science from Gwinnett Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia. She is a prodigy in classical (vocal) music from Coimbatore. She was the only student at the State of University of New York, who donated 5 gallons of blood to the RED CROSS as an undergraduate student. Upon arrival to Atlanta in 1979, she was the principle founding member and pioneer in starting the Atlanta Hindu Temple, one of the largest Hindu Temples in USA today. Further she was also the founder of the Georgia Tamil Sangam that boasts today of many thousands of members and that has expanded globally to serve the South Indian community.
